Austin Stoermer Coleman was born on February 10, 1990. He grew up in Austin, Texas with his parents and two sisters. From a young age, Austin has been interested in movies and filmmaking. In the fifth grade, he made a full-length movie called “The Visitor.” This film was later shown on public access television and won the Grand Jury Prize at the Austin Film Festival when he was only 17 years old.
After college, Austin moved to London, England where he studied screen writing at the National Film and Television School. His short film “The Visitor” won the 2009 Austin Film Festival’s Grand Jury Prize and was shown as an official selection of the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. The film also won the Best Short Film award at the 2010 Austin Music Video Awards.
Austin became a member of the Purity Ring in 2011. He helped produce “Shrines”, the band’s first EP, which was released in 2013.
He returned to Austin in 2013 and began work on his first feature film, “The Great Divide.” This movie has won the 2014 South by Southwest Film Festival’s Episodic Lab and will begin shooting in March 2016.
